Or, to be specific – HOW DOES ONE MAKE A HOTEL...... GET INTO THE HOTEL BUSINESS...??? Agreed, the business of teaching/learning of getting into this mammoth Industry is also BIG BUSINESS. Swimming Pool at Gaj Retreat

THE SWIMMING POOL AT GAJ RETREAT- GARHSHANKER It was a windfall moment – the spot chosen for the location of the new swimming pool at the Gaj ended up as a treasure trove for a huge quantity of white stones, which actually should be called boulders. The shape of the site decided the shape of the pool for us – the layout of which was done in a jiffy – using std PVC conduits as teh only measuring tool. The pool is a product of squares of 3 m side randomly arranged to fit the available space in the vacant area left between the cottages – and it turned out to be quite a design. 3 partly sunk pavilions were made at the pool's corners – to accommodate fireplaces with seating surrounding it. Spa at Gaj Retreat

Image
Another addition planned at the Gaj Retreat - this time a Spa located next to the main pool Promenade. This new addition is built using bamboo columns, the joinery detail consists of 8 bamboo shoots per column tied to the floor, Bamboo framing supports the thatch roof ontop. In between the bamboo columns is Dhajji wall construction in locally sourced timber., the infill ashlar stonework is also sourced from the site itself. As with the entire premises this new building is designed to be environmentally friendly and it has been built using vernacular materials sourced directly from the site itself to ensure minimum negative impact on the environment.  Gaj Retreat truly features exotic luxury in complete harmony with all the elements of nature that make this property so very special. The Retreat spans over acres of beautiful forest land and has been developed with the deepest respect for the natural environment.

Sifar Resorts

Sifar Resorts Location : Jammu and Kashmir The design of Sifar Resorts uses vernacular materials and predesign prototyping to have a hollistic approach towards building design. Sifar resorts is making reuse of an old timber construction and renovating it to make it a fine example of a design philosophy at metamorphosis where we believe that every structure can be repurposed, reinvented, reinvigorated., honoring the pre-existing is authentic to our work. the pre-existing has value if you take the time and effort to look at it carefully. In fact, it's a question of observation, of approaching a place with fresh eyes, attention and precision. With the selection of modest materials enables we strive to build spaces with sensitivity.
